Singer-songwriter Catlea’s musical tastes cover an eclectic spectrum from alt-indie to rock, to pop and EDM. The alt-indie musician easily shifts from angelic to raw, powerful vocals on full display on her most recent songs. Complimenting her distinctive vocals, Catlea plays piano, acoustic guitar, rhythm guitar, and ukulele. “I love writing songs, making music, and performing live,” said Catlea. “It’s what I was born to do.” Her songs feature catchy “earworms” with witty lyrics and melodies that get inside your head and make you want to hit the replay button. “I try to create music that means something not just to me, but to the person listening.”
Her latest release, “Love Isn’t Enough” almost didn’t make it through the pandemic. This EDM song came about as a collaborative effort with Axel Ross of Bucharest who had a basic EDM foundation. Catlea wrote the lyrics and topline of “Love” and recorded a rough demo during a break up with someone who was going through heavy emotional issues. They tried their best to make their relationship work but the damage inside was insurmountable. Fortunately, they remain close friends.
After a time, Axel Ross moved to London and lost interest, so “Love” sat alone in a corner for a couple years. Fortunately, Catlea got re-inspired and started working on it with her good friend Alex Dark, with whom she had collaborated on “Animis” and the “Bad for Me” remix.
After a few fits and starts over several months they finally got it right. To polish it up Catlea turned to producer Jason Boshoff of Barcelona, who she’s been working with on her upcoming album, Language Barrier.
